Our client is seeking a driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their Training Sales function on a fixed‑term basis. This role is ideal for someone who excels in consultative B2B sales and enjoys helping public sector organisations strengthen their learning and development capabilities.
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for promoting a wide range of customised training programmes to public sector bodies across the UK. The position involves engaging senior stakeholders, understanding organisational challenges, and recommending learning solutions that support workforce development and long‑term capability building.
Success in this Business Development Manager role requires confidence, resilience, and a proven ability to manage a busy sales pipeline while consistently meeting revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities
- Generate revenue through the sale of tailored training programmes to public sector organisations.
- Build strong, long‑term relationships with senior decision‑makers.
- Assess client needs and recommend suitable learning and development solutions.
- Deliver high volumes of outbound sales activity to secure new business.
- Negotiate commercial terms confidently and close deals effectively.
- Act as a trusted advisor, guiding clients toward the most relevant training options.
- Maintain an accurate and organised sales pipeline.
- Consistently meet or exceed personal sales targets and KPIs.
Essential Skills & Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in B2B Business Development Manager sales with a strong record of achieving targets.
- Confident, professional telephone manner.
- Solid understanding of sales processes and consultative selling.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders.
- Familiarity with public sector environments is beneficial.
